Your Support Feeds Hope

REfire doesn't cost students anything.

Our goal is to provide students with full scholarships to cover their uniforms, ServSafe certification, as well as the food necessary for training.

If we can help people who have formerly been incarcerated in our community stay out of the system and become productive members of our workforce, this initial investment will be invaluable. 

Our annual fundraising goal is $50,000, which would cover all student tuition and the purchase of necessary food and supplies for training.

At 62, I never believed that I could accomplish something new for myself. REfire helped me to rebuild my confidence, develop skills that would serve me beyond the kitchen, and showed me that I was capable of starting fresh and accomplishing hard things. I have held positions in kitchens around town since I graduated from the program but I am currently running my own auto detailing business and using skills like active listening, resilience, and enhanced customer experience that I learned at REfire.

Before REfire Culinary, I was in the streets[foreal] but who I am today is night and day. I always liked to cook, and when I went to prison I decided to start getting my certifications. Since REfire I’ve worked in many kitchens and have returned back as team lead at the Dwellings. It’s given me opportunities to communicate better, be more dependable, and be team orientated as a supervisor. It’s given me the courage to go further and show people there are other ways to be successful. Change your hustle to something legit and follow a passion, and for me that’s cooking. It keeps me going.

  • We accept any gift no matter what but if you’re wondering where your gift helps, here's our cost breakdown:

    • $4,800 – One full scholarship, including administrative costs, books, uniform, knives, and testing fees

    • $1,500 – One living stipend for one student

    • $600 – Tuition for one student for one week

    • $350 – One full set of all required textbooks for one student

    • $600 – Tuition for one student for one week

    • $150 – One knife set and one full uniform for one student

    • $100 – One knife set

    • $70 – One full uniform (one chef’s jacket, one pair of pants, one hat, and shoes)
